Established in 1962 by the visionary industrialist M. A. Hashem, Partex Group has evolved into one of Bangladesh’s largest family-run conglomerates, comprising over 70 factories. Its journey commenced with commodity trading and has since diversified into a vast array of sectors. Partex now holds sway over a multitude of industries, spanning tobacco, textiles, furniture, consumer goods, IT, and more.

Under Hashem’s astute leadership, Partex transformed into a conglomerate with diverse subsidiaries. About the Founder of Partex Star Group

M.A. Hashem, a visionary in Bangladesh’s industrial landscape, founded Partex Group in 1962, creating a legacy of determination, innovation, and social responsibility.

Born on 30th August 1943, he embarked on a career trading tobacco in 1959 before establishing Partex Star Group, the then Partex Group. Advocating for entrepreneurship, Hashem believed in fostering innovation and creating jobs for national growth.

Mr. Hashem’s visionary initiatives extended beyond the conglomerate, as he founded two prominent private banks, The City Bank and United Commercial Bank Limited, contributing significantly to Bangladesh’s financial landscape.

Beyond business, he championed education, co-founding North South University and engaging with various educational institutions. His philanthropy extended to schools, hospitals, and charitable endeavors in Noakhali.

M.A. Hashem passed away on 24th December 2020 leaving his empire and a lot of social work. His versatile and active lifestyle is still an inspiration for the entrepreneurs of Bangladesh. His legacy transcends his industrial success; it embodies his commitment to uplifting lives and driving Bangladesh’s progress, making him a revered figure in the nation’s journey toward prosperity.
