Scandals of Sajeeb Group
Sajeeb Group has faced a series of scandals that have raised concerns about the integrity and quality of its products. In June 2015, a police raid at their Chittagong depot uncovered expired Tang packets with fake expiry dates, exposing their unethical practices of selling expired products in the local market.
Another incident in July 2016 involved Detective Branch discovering rotten mangoes in vehicles belonging to Hashem Foods Limited, a part of Sajeeb Group. A subsequent raid at the factory revealed a substantial amount of rotten mangoes, resulting in a fine and the destruction of the spoiled produce.
Furthermore, in October 2017, a test conducted by the Bangladesh Food Safety Authority revealed that Shezan mango drink contained only 5 percent mango content, falling short of the mandatory 10 percent threshold for it to be classified as a fruit drink. These scandals have raised questions about the company’s commitment to quality and consumer safety.
